Trip Itinerary
Welcome to Kashmir! Your journey starts as you land at Srinagar Airport. Our team will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in and some rest, you can explore the city. The best thing to do is a Shikara ride on Dal Lake, where you see floating shops and beautiful lotus flowers. You can also visit the local market for famous Kashmiri shawls and handicrafts. Srinagar is at 1,585m, which is a very pleasant start for your Kashmir Ladakh Manali road trip. Enjoy a warm dinner and get ready for the mountains tomorrow.
Today we leave the green valley and enter the mountains. We drive 204 km to reach Kargil. The most exciting part is crossing Zojila Pass (3,528m), which connects Kashmir to Ladakh. On the way, you see the beautiful Sonamarg meadow. We also stop at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass to pay respect to our soldiers. You will see Tiger Hill and Tololing from the road. The air starts getting cooler as we reach Kargil (2,676m). Overnight stay in a hotel in Kargil after a scenic mountain drive.
After breakfast, we drive towards the capital city of Ladakh. Today you see the "Moonland" landscape at Lamayuru Monastery, where the ground looks like the moon! We cross two high passes: Namika La and Fotu La. We stop at the Magnetic Hill where cars move uphill by magic! We also visit the Sangam Point (meeting of Indus and Zanskar rivers) and the holy Pathar Saheb Gurudwara. By evening, we reach Leh city (3,500m). This 210 km drive is full of amazing natural wonders and very good roads.
Today is a relaxing day to enjoy Leh culture. We visit the famous Shanti Stupa, which is a white dome on a hill. From here, you can see the whole Leh town and the snowy mountains. Next, we visit the 17th-century Leh Palace, which was the home of the royal family. In the afternoon, you can walk in the Leh Main Market to buy Tibetan crafts or try delicious local food in cafes. This day is very important for your body to adjust to the high altitude before we go higher tomorrow.
Get ready to cross one of the highest roads in the world! We drive to Khardung La Pass at 17,582 ft. You can take photos with the snow and enjoy the view. Then we go down into Nubra Valley, which is a cold desert with white sand dunes. We visit the big Buddha statue at Diskit Monastery. The best part is the Double-Humped Camel ride in Hunder village. We stay in a beautiful campsite under the stars. The elevation is 3,000m, so it is very comfortable to sleep.
Today we drive to the most famous lake in India! We take the direct route along the Shyok River. The road is adventurous with some water crossings. By afternoon, you reach Pangong Lake (4,225m) on the border of India and China. The water changes colors from light blue to dark blue. It is the same lake you see in '3 Idiots' movie. We stay in a camp or guest house near the lake. It is very cold at night, so wear your warm clothes and enjoy the bonfire.
After a beautiful sunrise at the lake, we start our drive back to Leh. We cross Chang La Pass (5,360m), which is the third highest motorable pass. On the way, we can stop at Thiksey Monastery, which looks like a mountain palace, and the Rancho School. We reach Leh by evening. You have some free time to do last-minute shopping for your family. This 150 km drive brings you back to the comfort of your Leh hotel for a good night's sleep.
We start our journey on the famous Leh-Manali Highway. Today we drive 250 km to Sarchu. We cross Taglang La Pass(5,328m) and drive through the flat More Plains, which are 40 km of straight road in the mountains! We also see the Gata Loops (21 hairpin turns). Sarchu is a high-altitude camp site (4,300m) on the border of Ladakh and Himachal. It is a very remote and windy place. We stay in deluxe tents and enjoy a warm dinner in the middle of nowhere.
The last big drive! We drive from Sarchu to Manali. We cross the scenic Baralacha La Pass (4,890m) and see the beautiful Suraj Tal lake. We pass through Keylong and Sissu villages in Lahaul Valley. The biggest highlight is the Atal Tunnel, which is 9 km long and takes us directly to the green side of Manali. Suddenly, the desert is gone and you see trees and waterfalls! By evening, we reach the cozy town of Manali. You can walk on Mall Road for shopping.
Your 10-day Kashmir Ladakh Manali road trip ends today. After breakfast, you can relax in Manali or visit the Hadimba Temple. If you have time, you can go to Solang Valley for paragliding. In the evening, we drop you at the Manali bus stand to catch your Volvo bus to Delhi. You go home with amazing memories of two mountain highways and three different cultures. It was a long journey of 1,448 km, and you did it! Safe travels and see you again!

Chuntzu HVerified One of the Best Days I’ve Had in the Mountains LOVE “RUMBAK Snow Leopard Trip” 🖤🤍Before coming, everyone told us it was basically impossible to see a snow leopard in early November — which honestly just made me want to try even more. And guess what? We got lucky. 🤞🏾This whole trip was one of those experiences that reminds you why traveling is worth it. Watching wildlife in the mountains, especially the snow leopard, felt unreal. Our guide and the wildlife spotter clearly knew what they were doing; they shared tons of interesting details about the animals and the valley, but in a way that felt relaxed and genuine, not like a lecture. We also saw plenty of blue sheep throughout the day. The timing was comfortable — not rushed at all — and the lunch break at the homestay was perfect. The food was simple but really satisfying, exactly what you want when you’ve been out in the mountains.Everything was arranged smoothly, and the team made us feel like we were in good hands the whole time. I’ve already told my friends and family that if they ever come to Ladakh, they must do this. It would honestly be a shame to visit and miss out on something like this.Big thanks to the whole crew, Rigzin and Jigmed:) — it was an incredible day, and one I won’t forget anytime soon. Tour22928098945Verified Incredibly-Amazing-Adventure Trip in Trans-Himalayan Region Strongly Recommend the Mountain Intelligence crew for Trans-Himalayan region tourism. From the initial discussions our itinerary was based on our interests and personalized experiences. They live & breath the terrain therefore can plan and execute a tailored trip.We had an AMAZING 7-days and 6-nights adventurous trip through Ladakh. Very Big Thank You, Jigmed & Rigzin for arranging this incredibly memorable trip for us, it was Par Excellence experience !! Highlights of our trip … - Spot-on time-bound planning of destinations and sightseeing.- Safe drivers that navigated the intricately winding Trans-Himalayan terrain. Gulp, windy roads, unpaved in some parts where the vehicle is up against the mountain and valley's does make one's heart skip few beats !!- Transport vehicles were equipped with oxygen tank just in case one needs to address altitude sickness. Fortunately we did not need any medical attention (Pshew!!). - Tip for travelers: 1) Ascertain cardio fitness and blood-oxygen level is sustainable for high altitude. 2) Listen to your body and don’t push your luck, this will ensure a safe and enjoyable trip :-)- Hotels in Leh, Nubra Valley & Pangong Lake were cozy and served freshly cooked delicious food. Friendly hotel staff even catered to special food requests. Appreciation and tips goes a long way :-)- Special Mentions: * Artisanal Alchemy's Dining Experience was one-of-kind where "authentic" Ladakhi gastronomy was curated by the incredible host, Kunzes Angmo. She accompanied the delectable delicacies with interesting narratives of the cuisine origin, spices, and more. We strongly recommend this to folks that love & enjoy good food peppered with great history of Ladakh food stories :-) * De Reeva Resort, Pangong offers incredible views of the lake. It's a short walk to the lake to soak in the views, both at sunset and sunrise !!- Regret not being able to do the day-hike to Stok Changma due to road closures for the Ladakh Marathons. However the Artisanal Alchemy's Dining Experience 'more-than' made-up for this missed trek :-) killian cVerified Baby Trek with Family/Friends Great experience, thanks to Jigmet who was an excellent guide. Great moments shared with him also in the Home-Stay. He was able to adapt, both for the pace and for the deviations. Professionalism, reassurance and total confidence.I highly recommend. Wander57374543012Verified A wonderful experience in Ladakh with Mountain Intelligence We took a 7-day and 6-night trip through Ladakh with Mountain Intelligence. The tour included Leh and the Nubra Valley. We planned to reach Pangong Lake as well, but eventually decided to return to Leh for altitude sickness prevention. Our driver was exceptional: a very friendly boy, very helpful and attentive at all times. He even accompanied us to a health center in Nubra when we were not feeling well, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. In addition, he was driving safely and prudently along the complex roads in the region, which we greatly value. The stays in the different accommodations were also very nice, comfortable and cozy.In short, it was a very positive experience that I would recommend to anyone who wants to discover Ladakh with caring and responsible professionals. I would encourage everyone to share this adventure with Mountain Intelligence. Adventure47040135609Verified Superb❤️👍💪👏👏 Super Exciting Trip! Mani CVerified Ice climbing It was a amazing experience, I was a beginner and rigzin helped me a lot to climb my first ever wall. They had all the gears and I always felt safe. Will do it again when I am in leh. Clement LVerified Incredible Experience in the Himalayas I had a truly unforgettable experience climbing all 6070m of UT Kangri with Rigzin, supported by his team from Mountain Intelligence. Rigzin provided incredible help in pushing me up the mountain despite the going getting tough for me, especially in the final 500m of elevation or so. My acclimitization was not the best (my fault) and so the altitude was a challenge. Nonetheless, Rigzin supported me every step of the way and helped when he was needed the most. On the descent, I accidentally fell into a river and suffered some cuts and abrasions. Rigzin and team went out the way to send me to a hospital and got me checked. It goes without saying that I could never have made it up and down safely without their help!I wish them all the best and definitely look forward to the next adventure with them! William Dickens DVerified An incredible time in the Himalayas We had an unforgettable experience touring Ladakh, all thanks to Rigzin and Mountain Intelligence.
