Trip Itinerary

Upon arrival in Leh, we provide transfer to your hotel for mandatory rest. This first day is strictly for acclimatization, as the thin air at 3,500m requires your body to adjust slowly. You will walk only 2-3km at a flat gradient around the local market to keep blood flowing. It is essential to stay hydrated and avoid any heavy physical exertion during these initial hours. You can explore the vibrant Leh bazaar, observing the local culture while your lungs adapt to the high-altitude environment. Spend the evening relaxing at the hotel, ensuring you are well-rested for the upcoming adventure. This gentle start is the foundation for a successful and safe Himalayan summit.

Today focuses on active acclimatization with short, easy walks totaling about 4-5km. We visit the iconic Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace, involving a moderate gradient climb that helps prime your respiratory system. The elevation remains steady at 3,500m, but the uphill sections provide a necessary challenge for your heart and lungs. In the afternoon, we conduct a final equipment check to ensure all gear is mountain-ready. A detailed expedition briefing follows, where we discuss the route and safety protocols. This day balances light physical activity with mental preparation, allowing you to enjoy the spiritual atmosphere of nearby monasteries while preparing your body for the higher altitudes of the Changthang plateau.

We begin a scenic 220km drive toward the nomadic lands of Korzok, lasting approximately 6 to 8 hours. The journey follows the Indus River via Karu and crosses the Mahe Bridge, offering views of vast, high-altitude plains. You will experience a significant elevation gain, ending the day at 4,595m near the stunning Tso Moriri Lake. The drive is mostly on paved roads but involves crossing high mountain passes where you might spot Himalayan wildlife and Changpa nomad camps. Upon arrival, we settle into tents or a local homestay. The air is noticeably thinner here, so we keep movement minimal tonight to allow the body to process the nearly 1,100m altitude jump from Leh.

This is a vital day for "climb high, sleep low" training. We take a deliberate hike of 5-6km toward a 5,000m viewpoint overlooking the turquoise waters of Tso Moriri. The gradient is steady and demanding, providing a perfect test for your stamina. During the walk, we conduct a technical skills session, practicing rope team drills and the proper use of ice axes and crampons on nearby slopes. These drills ensure every climber is comfortable with the tools needed for the summit. Monitoring oxygen levels and hydration is our priority today. By pushing to higher ground and returning to the lake level to sleep, your body strengthens its ability to perform in the extreme environment.

The summit push begins in the freezing darkness around 4:00 AM. This is a grueling 10-12km round-trip trek with a steep, challenging gradient through mixed rock and snow. As you ascend the glacier terrain, the elevation reaches a staggering 6,100m at the peak of Kiagar Ri. Every step requires immense focus and rhythmic breathing. From the summit, you are rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the Karakoram and Himalayan ranges. After capturing the moment, we begin a careful, controlled descent back to Korzok. The total vertical gain and loss make this the most physically demanding day of the expedition, ending with a deep sense of accomplishment and a well-earned celebration at camp.

After a successful summit, we pack our gear and begin the 220km return journey to Leh. The 6-hour drive allows you to relax and reflect on the climb while the oxygen levels increase as we descend back to 3,500m. The landscape shifts from the high, arid plains of Tso Moriri back to the bustling greenery of the Indus Valley. Upon reaching Leh, you can enjoy the simple luxury of a hot shower and the comfort of a hotel bed. The evening is dedicated to a celebratory dinner with the team, sharing stories of the summit and enjoying the local hospitality. It is a day of physical recovery and transition back to civilization.

Your Himalayan journey concludes today with a transfer to the Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport. As you fly over the snow-capped peaks you recently conquered, you carry home the pride of a successful 6,100m summit. The short drive to the airport marks the final few kilometers of an incredible adventure. We ensure you arrive in time for your flight, concluding our services with a warm farewell. You leave the land of high passes with new friendships, technical mountaineering experience, and memories that will last a lifetime. Safe travels and we hope to see you again for your next high-altitude challenge in the majestic mountains of Ladakh.
