Sandakphu, the highest point of West Bengal is situated in the Darjeeling district. Reaching a height of 3,636 m, it provides unobstructed views of some of the highest peaks of the world, namely Mt Everest, Kanchenjungha, Lhotse, Makalu etc. The trail which lies along the border of India and Nepal, falls under the territory of Singalila National Park and is home to the famously elusive Red Panda along with a various diversity of rich flora and fauna.

Itinerary:​

Day 1: You have to reach Dhotrey, the base camp. It is a small and quiet mountain village. Explore the surroundings. Dinner will be provided at 8 P.M.

Day 2: The trek starts in the morning post breakfast. Our destination will be Gairibas. We will pass through Tonglu, Tumling and Jaubari. The total trek of the day will be 12 Kms. Lunch will be on the way. On reaching Gairibas tea and snacks will be served. Dinner will be served by 8 P.M

Day 3: Freshen up and get set to start your trek. Breakfast will be served by 7 A.M. The destination today is Kalipokhri. A steep climb of 6 Km will take to the alpine lake set amidst the mountains. Settle in for the day and prepare for the final climb of tomorrow.

Day 4: Post breakfast, set out for the most challenging part of the trail. The steep climb will take you to the destination, Sandakphu. Enjoy the panoramic view of the highest peaks of the world. It is suggested that you tuck in early tonight to have a glimpse of the magnificent sunrise.

Day 5: Wake up early in the morning to witness the sunrise. Post breakfast set out for the last leg of the trek. A descend of about 18 kms will take you to Srikhola, a quaint hamlet situated by the Sri river. This is the final destination of the trek, so you can relax in the afternoon.

Day 6: In the morning, post breakfast our service comes to an end. Shared cabs are available at Srikhola, which will take you to Siliguri. Conversely, you can book a whole car.

How to Reach Dhotrey:

Dhotrey can be reached via direct car from NJP. You can also take a shared car upto Maneybhanjan. From there you can take another car to reach Dhotrey.

Food Menu:

  • Breakfast: Roti-Sabzi/Maggi/Puri-Sabzi
  • Lunch: Rice, Dal and Sabzi
  • Packet Lunch: Alu Paratha with achaar.
  • Snacks: Tea with Pakoda
  • Dinner: Khichri with Papad

Hot water is available on chargeable basis @ 10 Rs/Litre.

  • Accommodation Tent, Sleeping Bag and Sleeping Mat
  • Food in fixed menu basis
  • Trekking staff (Mountain Guide, Porter etc)
  • Permits

Exclusions:

  • Any extra snacks and beverages
  • Any train/bus fare
  • Any food other than mentioned
  • Anything not mentioned in the inclusions

CANCELLATION TERMS:

If for some reason you wish to cancel the trip, email intimation (mountainintelligence@gmail.com) needs to be sent to along with telephonic information.

The cancellation charges are as under.

  • Cancellations prior to 20 days from the start of the trip —50% refund.
  • Cancellation between 10 days and 20 days to the start of the trip —30% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 10 days to the start of the trip — NO REFUND
