This trek is easily accessible from Leh and offers a large diversity of landscapes. The green oasis of the Markha Valley guarded by Kang Yatse 6400mts from east and Zanskar range from the south west. From any of the high points you can have breath-taking views of the Korakoram Saser Kangri peak (7670mts) Stok Kangri (6150mts) Kang Yatse 6400mts.and Nun Kun (7135mts.) During this trek you will go through many scattered high villages, each with irrigated fields of barley, wheat and mustard which adds brilliance to the landscape of this broken moon land, and Markha valley trek is a part of Hemis National Park, Where there is always an opportunity of spotting wild animals.
Day 01 Arrival in Leh
Arrival at Leh airport, to be received by our representative and transferred to the Hotel. Check in to the hotel for a complete day of rest wherein welcome tea and coffee will be served by the Hotel. Lunch will be served at 2.00 PM. After lunch, visit Leh Market, Leh Palace, Hall of Fame and Shanti Stupa. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02 Leh to Chilling via Confluence of Sangam Point :
Leh to Chilling 3460mts by 2hrs of drive. After crossing the Zangskar river by a trolley, 3/4 hrs of hiking to Sku village 3400mts. The hike is always along the Markha river. Sku is a small village with 5 to 8 families living there. The camp site is along the river and is in the village.
Day 03 Skiu to Markha Village :
Sku to markha village 3600mts. Today would be a long day as you will hike for about 6/7 hrs all along the refreshing markha river. Just before getting to the village you would have to cross the Markha river 2 times as no fixed bridge is there. Markha is the biggest village in the valley with 20 families living there. There is a monastery in the village and a small school is also there. Camp site is in the center of the village.
Day 04 Markha to Hankar Village :
Markha to Hankar village 3800mts. You can go visit the Markha Monastery in the morning as it falls just on your way. At the end of the village you would have to cross the river once again. Today you will hike for 3 to 4hrs all along the Markha river. Hankar is the last village of Markha valley with 7 families living there. The campsite of Hankar is with beautiful lush green fields of Barley.
Day 05 Hankar to Nimaling (Campsite) :
Hankar to Nimaling(campsite) 4900mts. Today’s hike would be of 5 to 6hrs as you will start to gradually ascend to altitude. Nimaling is the coldest place during the trek. It is an shepherds place where you will see a lots of cattle’s like yaks and sheep’s.
Day 06 Nimaling to Chokdo Village :
Nimaling to Chokdo village 3800mts via kongmaru la pass 5100mts. Today you will hike for 6 to 7hrs. The view from the pass is majestic as you can see the whole ladakh range from the top of the pass. Chokdo is a village with 4 families living there.
Day 07 Chokdo to Shang and than we will drive to Leh :
Chokdo to shang by 2hrs hike and then to Leh by 1hr drive.
Day 08 Departure to Home :
After the breakfast we will excursion towards the Leh Airport , So its time to departure.
